Discover Your DNA
Dear visitor,
Millions of people have taken a DNA test through services like Ancestry to learn more about their heritage.
Ancestry provides information about your ancestry based on your genotypes, and from time to time they update the results based on new findings.
What most people don’t realize is that you can download your raw DNA data, a large text file containing thousands of genetic markers. Hidden in that file is a wealth of personal insights far beyond ancestry: from traits and health risks to how your body may respond to certain medications.
I created HelixPeek to make those insights accessible to everyone. Instead of uploading your DNA to external websites, HelixPeek analyzes your raw data locally on your own computer. Your privacy stays intact, and you get a detailed, easy-to-read report full of information you won’t find in your original DNA test.
Although the software works, it has not been extensively tested, so feedback is welcome. The software is designed for raw DNA data obtained from Ancestry, but future versions may include files from other companies.
The information provided by HelixPeek is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease and should not be considered medical advice. The report is based on publicly available genetic markers (rsIDs) found in your raw DNA file, and their interpretation is limited in scope. Users are encouraged to verify any findings by consulting peer-reviewed scientific literature or qualified professionals.
If you're curious about what your genes might reveal, give it a try.
